CHR Metals was established in 2000 to provide independent, detailed analysis and forecasts of the global lead and zinc industries, covering all aspects of mine and smelter supply and end-use consumption. Data and information are gathered from original sources wherever possible. CHR has particular expertise in relation to China, its metal markets and role in the global lead and zinc industries. CHR has offices in the UK and in Xi’an, PR China. Its clients include producers, consumers, traders and hedge funds.

Claire Hassall was awarded a M.Sc. (Econ) from Queen Mary College, London in 1979. Prior to establishing CHR Metals she wasa director of Brook Hunt with overall responsibility for the company’s metal market and economic analysis. During her 20 years with Brook Hunt her focus was mainly on developments in markets for lead and zinc metal and concentrates.

Huw Roberts was awarded a B.A. (Hons) in economics and economic history from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 1979. His career in the metals industry includes seven years with Cominco in its London office, three years with Metals and Minerals Research Services and ten years with Brook Hunt where he was joint managing director.

Andrew Liu was awarded a bachelor’s degree in economics at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan, Hubei in 2016. He joined CHR’s team in May 2017, and has rapidly embraced the demands of visiting and talking with miners, smelters, consumers and traders, as well as attending industry conferences in China. As a dedicated English football premiership fan, he has developed very good English-language skills in addition to an unrivalled knowledge of English geography, particularly in relation to the location of football grounds.
